Certified Professional Coding course
Students will learn the importance of compliance for coding and billing, basic anatomy and medical terminology. We will look at Medicare's rules and regulations pertaining to Local and National Coverage Determinations. We then will focus on the correct use and application of ICD-10-CM for diagnostic coding. Finally we will look at the HCPCS and CPT code books. We will learn the six categories of CPT and the specific guidelines throughout the coding book along with proper modifier application and the linkage of diagnosis coding to procedural coding to demonstrate medical necessity.
